Translation of Song Ishq Jalakar – Karavan from Dhurandhar

Ishq Jalakar–Karavan: Dhurandhar Background Song Translated

Meta Description:  Ishq Jalakar – Karavan is a background song from Dhurandhar on Ranveer Singh and inspired by the qawwali Na To Caravan Ki Talash Hai. Enjoy the translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Ishq Jalakar - Karavan

Ishq Jalakar – Karavan is a contemporary recreation of the legendary qawwali Na To Carvan Ki Talash Hai from Barsaat Ki Raat. The makers of Dhurandhar have acknowledged the contribution of the original composer Roshan and lyricist Sahir Ludhianvi in the credits. Ishq Jalakar is not performed as a traditional qawwali on screen with competition between two troupes, but runs in the background tracing the emotional journey of the protagonist, played by Ranveer Singh, through the narrative.

Jaskirat Singh Rangi (Ranveer Singh), a RAW agent, is deployed as a deep asset to Pakistan under the identity of Hamza Ali Mazari. Mazari is anyway living on the edge as a spy, but to ingrain himself into his new environment he must eradicate his customs and adopt conflicting ones. The public image that Mazari must create rips through his inner loyalties. Ishq Jalakar recurs in the background at key moments in this journey, with a fuller version at a pivotal point that signifies the complete transformation from Rangi to Mazari.

The song reflects the mindset of a hero who has burned everything he has cherished in the service of his country. It is the lament of a man who knows that he is condemned to carry this pain till his last breath.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Ishq Jalakar - Karavan

Sunlight shattered like shards of glass

Have pierced me so what, what happens we shall see

Thousands of wild storms raging through my heart

Have pierced me so what, what happens we shall see

I’m heart broken

Burnt down my love no looking back for me

I’m heart broken

Burnt down my love no looking back for me

Ni-sa-ga-re-sa-ni, sa-ga-ma-pa

Ma-pa-ga-ma, re-sa-ni-sa, ga-re-sa-ni-sa

My soul soars beyond clouds

Every heartbeat echoes bliss

Ni-sa-ga-re-sa-ni, sa-ga-ma-pa

Ma-pa-ga-ma, re-sa-ni-sa, ga-re-sa-ni-sa

In my fervour calm reigns

Now in this madness my heart is

Ni-sa-ga-re-sa-ni, sa-ga-ma-pa

Ma-pa-ga-ma, re-sa-ni-sa, ga-re-sa-ni-sa

Like a tempest I have come

My confidence is on fire

No multitude do I desire

No multitude do I desire

No companion do I desire

No multitude do I desire

Half the thoughts are said by my eyes

Pa-ni-sa-ga-re-sa, ni-dha-pa

Ma-ga-ni-ga-re-ni-sa

Half the thoughts are said by my eyes

Silence will convey the remaining part

A soulmate do I desire

No multitude do I desire

No multitude do I desire

No companion do I desire

My goal is to face up with you

This only is my life-time desire

My feet are entrenched on this earth

My feet are entrenched on this earth

My feet are entrenched on this earth

With the heavens do I conspire

No multitude do I desire

No multitude do I desire

No companion do I desire

No multitude do I desire

I’m heart broken

Burnt down my love no looking back for me

Ni-sa-ga-re-sa-ni, sa-ga-ma-pa

Ma-pa-ga-ma, re-sa-ni-sa, ga-re-sa-ni-sa

No multitude do I desire

Ni-sa-ga-re-sa-ni, sa-ga-ma-pa

Ma-pa-ga-ma, re-sa-ni-sa, ga-re-sa-ni-sa

No multitude do I desire

No companion do I desire

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Ishq Jalakar – Karavan from Dhurandar

Dhoop toot ke kaanch ki tarah
Chubh gayi toh kya, ab dekha jayega
Aandhiyaan kayi dil mein hain mere
Chubh gayi toh kya, ab dekha jayega

Dil hai toota
Mera main ishq jala kar aa gaya
Dil hai toota
Mera main ishq jala kar aa gaya

Aasmaan mein udaan hai
Dhadkan-dhadkan suroor mein
Hai junoon mein sukoon
Ab yeh dil, yeh dil fitoor mein

Aandhi ban ke aaya hoon
Mera hausla bhi ayyaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh hamsafar ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai

Aadhi baatein aankhein bole
Aadhi baatein aankhein bole
Baaki aadhi khaamoshi keh de
Hamzubaan ki talaash hai

Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh hamsafar ki talaash hai
Mera shauq tera deedaar hai
Yahi umar bhar ki talaash hai

Mere hamqadam hai yeh zameen
Mеre hamqadam hai yeh zameen
Merе hamqadam hai yeh zameen
Mere haath mein aakaash hai

Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh hamsafar ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai

Dil hai toota
Mera main ishq jala kar aa gaya

Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh hamsafar ki talaash hai

The Explanation of the Lyrics of Ishq Jalakar – Karavan

Dhoop toot ke kaanch ki tarah
Chubh gayi toh kya, ab dekha jayega

Sunlight represents his splintered existence, that like shards of glass pierce his being. But the die is cast and now he is bound to what the future will bring.

Aandhiyaan kayi dil mein hain mere
Chubh gayi toh kya, ab dekha jayega

Many questions are raging within him like storms. Questions like why is he here, what should he do, how will it end.

Dil hai toota
Mera main ishq jala kar aa gaya

The love is the love for his country and culture. He has had to burn that identity so that he could give credence to the new one. This has been heart breaking.

Aasmaan mein udaan hai
Dhadkan-dhadkan suroor mein
Hai junoon mein sukoon
Ab yeh dil, yeh dil fitoor mein

This verse deviates from the tenor of the song and speaks of the high and the satisfaction he gets being a spy for his country, a dangerous mission that brings both obsession and calmness.

Aandhi ban ke aaya hoon
Mera hausla bhi ayyaash hai

He is confident that he will take everyone by storm. Ayyaash literally translates to hedonistic, but in the context “ready for anything” would be a more appropriate interpretation.

Na toh karvaan ki talaash hai
Na toh hamsafar ki talaash hai

This is a job he has to do alone. He does not need a team nor an associate.

Aadhi baatein aankhein bole
Aadhi baatein aankhein bole
Baaki aadhi khaamoshi keh de
Hamzubaan ki talaash hai

But he needs someone who can read his eyes and understand his silences.

Mera shauq tera deedaar hai
Yahi umar bhar ki talaash hai

Now, he only lives to see his motherland once, a wish he will carry throughout his live, because he knows very few return alive from such a mission.

Merе hamqadam hai yeh zameen
Mere haath mein aakaash hai

I am firmly committed to this mission

The destiny of a nation depends on its success
