Ghar Kab Aaoge – Poetic Translation of Border 2 Remix Song
Meta Description: Ghar Kab Aaoge is a remix version of
Sandese Aate Hai. It was created by Manoj Muntashir and Mithoon for the
sequel Border 2. Enjoy the lyrical translation.
Setting the Background for Translating Ghar Kab Aaoge
Border (1997), produced by J. P.
Dutta, went on to become a cult war classic. Central to its enduring appeal was
the song Sandese Aate Hai, which poignantly captured the joy, longing,
and emotional vulnerability of soldiers stationed on the frontlines as they
received letters from home.
The
sequel, Border 2, slated for release on January 23, 2026, seeks to
rekindle those emotions through a reimagined version of the iconic song,
launched as Ghar Kab Aaoge. Lyricist Manoj Muntashir has expanded upon
Javed Akhtar’s original words, while composer Mithoon lends a fresh sensibility
to Anu Malik’s timeless melody. The new rendition weaves contemporary voices
with the original singers, creating a bridge between past and present. Speaking
in an interview, Muntashir described the song as an expression of the quiet
pain and fragile hope, felt equally by soldiers at the battle lines and by
their loved ones waiting at home.
The
soldiers render this song. In some verses they imagine what their loved ones
are experiencing and in some verses they express their own feelings. In a
casual reading this sometimes gets blurred. Also, some lines have been
difficult to translate in rhyme, like chauth ki thali. Chauth is a
festival in which wives observe a fast for their husbands that is broken after
moon rises and the wives see their husband’s faces. The significance of the husband
and wife being apart is evident. I have made suitable changes. Chauth ki thali
has been replaced by “monsoon swing” to describe another tradition of
setting up a swing in the garden during monsoons so that the couple can share
intimate moments in the rain.
The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Ghar
Kab Aaoge
Your messages that
come
They leave us so
lonesome
The letters that you
pen
Ask again and again
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
house is desolate
Your messages that
come
They leave us so
lonesome
The letters that you
pen
Ask again and again
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
heart is desolate
This heart for many
years
Was an empty shadow
Now with someone’s
coming
Shines with a festive
glow
The doors open wide
when
They hear his
footsteps fall
The sun rises only
After his wake-up call
I often think of this
When I am all alone
That the moon will
descend
In the yard of my home
My lucky blessing asks
Dangling earring asks
The monsoon swing asks
So also the
Henna reddening asks
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
heart is desolate
Your messages that
come
They leave us so
lonesome
The letters that you
pen
Ask again and again
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
house is desolate
Ask of the tears that
flow
Down from the brimming
eyes
To part from a true
love
One has to agonise
I had to leave behind
Mother who gave me
birth
For I loved even more
My mother Mother Earth
Someone whispered
softly
Please return home
again
I wait on tenterhooks
Do not deepen my pain
Nights that lie awake
ask
Unexpressed heartaches
ask
Promises to break ask
And so also
Her memories unspake
ask
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
heart is desolate
Often I think of her
At night when in
dreamland
Her slender silken
wrist
Clasped firmly in my
hand
Like an ode to beauty
On my lips she remains
And like rising
passion
She surges through my
veins
The girl that played
with dolls
That doll I remember
When someone speaks of
home
I realise I miss her
Well-wishers at home
ask
Streets I used to roam
ask
Messages on phone ask
And also my
Mates who are alone
ask
Home when will you
return
Home when will you
return
Write when will you
return
For without you this
heart is desolate
Passing wind listen to
what I say
O please do this much
for me I pray
Who has left me and
has gone away
Go find that mate
Neither any alley nor
highway
I searched but could
not find till today
That this distance
could eliminate
That this distance
could eliminate
My entire youth he has
stolen from me
And has left me with
my eyes teary
That I will repeat
throughout my life
He has left me with a
sad story
O wind messenger that
is passing by
I beg you please do
not make me thus cry
Tell me from where
such a heart I can buy
That will accept this
final goodbye
I will return again
I will return again
To my homely abode
Where love’s debt is
owed
To eyes that long for
me
Arms hold me lovingly
Path to my family
The promises that I
made
Those I will maintain
I will return again
I will return again
I will return again
I will return again
The Original Hindi Lyrics of Ghar Kab Aaoge from Border
2
Humein Tadpate Hai
Jo Chitthi Aati Hai
Wo Puche Jati Hai
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Likho Kab Aaoge
Ki Tum Bin Ye Ghar Soona Soona Hai
Humein Tadpate Hai
Jo Chitthi Aati Hai
Wo Puche Jati Hai
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Likho Kab Aaoge
Ki Tum Bin Ye Dil Soona Soona Hai
Kisi Ke Aane Se
Saja Diwali Sa
Jage Hai Darwaaze
Kisi Ki Aahat Se
Savera Hota Hai
Kisi Ki Karwat Se
Main Sochta Karta Hu
Yahi Tanhaai Mein
Ke Chanda Utrega
Meri Angnaai Mein
Naseebon Wali Ne
Kaan Ki Bali Ne
Chauth Ki Thali Ne
Aur Pucha Hai
Mehndi Ki Lali Ne
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Likho Kab Aaoge
Ki Tum Bin Ye Dil Soona Soona Hai
Jo Chitthi Aati Hai
Wo Puche Jati Hai
Ki Ghar Kab Aaoge
Jhalakte Pani Se
Bichhadte Hai Koi
Kalai Resham Si
Ae Guzarne Wali Hawa
Bata
Mera Itna Kaam Karegi Kya
Mujhe Chhod Ke Jo Chala Gaya
Koyi Rehguzar Ya Koyi Gali
The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Ghar Kab Aaoge
Messages come
And torment us
The letters that come
Keep asking
That when will you come home
That when will you
come home
Write when will you
come
That this house is
desolate without you
This that for many
years
Was empty
With someone’s arrival
Looks decorated as during Diwali
The doors have awakened
To someone’s footsteps
The morning comes
When someone rolls
over in the bed
I keep thinking
In this loneliness
That the moon will
descend
In my courtyard
The blessed one
Her earrings
The rituals of the
festival of Chauth
Also asks
The redness of henna
That when will you come home
That when will you
come home
Write when will you
come
That this house is
desolate without you
Ask this of the eyes
Glistening with tears
Does anyone part
Anywhere with ease
I left behind
A mother blessing me
Because I loved more
This mother earth
Someone softly
Had said come back
I will be waiting
Do not torment me
Sleepless nights
Unsaid conversations
Unfulfilled promises
Also ask
Her memories
That when will you
come home
That when will you
come home
Write when will you
come
That this house is
desolate without you
I intensely remember
Someone at night
Her silken wrist
Is still in my hand
Like a verse of poetry
She remains on my lips
Like love
She flows in my veins
Who played with dolls
That doll I remember
In casual
conversations
Her references come
My well wishers
Lanes and markets
Letters and telegrams
Also ask
My buddies
That when will you
come home
That when will you
come home
Write when will you
come
That this house is
desolate without you
O passing breeze tell
me
Will you do this small
work for me
Who has left me and
gone
Find that person
Some path or some lane
I could not find till
today
That could eliminate
this distance
That could eliminate this
distance
He took away my entire
youth
And left me with tears
in my eyes
That I will repeat for
the rest of my life
He has given me that
story
O passing breeze
please
Do not make me cry
like this
From where will I get
such a heart say
That accepts this
final goodbye
I will return
I will return
Again to my village
Under the shade of
love
To the longing eyes
To someone’s arms
To the roads that lead to home
The promises I had made
I will fulfil
I will return
I will return
I will return
I will return
