Hai Apna Dil To Awara: Sad Version Translated of Solva
Saal
Meta Description: Hai Apna Dil To Awara appears as both
sad and happy version in Solva Saal. The Bollywood hit song features Dev
Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Enjoy the translation.
Setting the Background for Translating Hai Apna Dil To
Awara
After the happy version of Hai Apna Dil To Awara plays aboard the train, Prannath (Dev Anand) helps Laaj (Waheeda Rehman) out of an extremely difficult predicament. The ensuing events bring them closer, and love begins to blossom, though neither expresses their feelings. Having safely escorted Laaj home, Prannath goes back to his carefree ways, but with a new longing in his heart.
This time alone in
the train compartment, he gives melancholic expression to his unspoken feelings
in the sad version of the song. The first verse reinforces his desire to be
free, but the second verse brings out the sadness of incomplete love. The
interludes between the verses cut to Laaj, equally wistful, gazing from her
balcony and wondering what might have been.
The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai
Apna Dil To Awara (Sad)
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know whom he will favour
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know whom he will favour
In one place he won’t remain
Which tune will he entertain
Sometimes he will take one lane
Then elsewhere he’s seen
In one place he won’t remain
Which tune will he entertain
Sometimes he will take one lane
Then elsewhere he’s seen
Roaming footloose and chaotic
I don’t know whom he will favour
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know whom he will favour
He met someone recently
What came of it, please tell me
Did it happen really
Or was it a dream
He met someone recently
What came of it, please tell me
Did it happen really
Or was it a dream
Self inflicted pain tragic
I don’t know whom he will favour
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know whom he will favour
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know whom he will favour
The Original Hindi Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara
(Sad) from Solva Saal
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega
Rukega na ruka hai,
Na jaane dhun kya hai
Kabhi ye rasta hai,
Kabhi wo rasta
Rukega na ruka hai,
Na jaane dhun kya hai
Kabhi ye rasta hai,
Kabhi wo rasta
Phire hai dar-ba-dar
maara,
Na jaane kispe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega
Kisi se ye mila tha,
Bataaye koi kya tha
Bedaari ka sama tha
Ke tha wo sapana
Kisi se ye mila tha,
Bataaye koi kya tha
Bedaari ka sama tha
Ke tha wo sapana
Khud apane dard se
haara,
Na jaane kispe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara (Sad)
My heart is a maverick
I don’t know on whom
he will descend
He has not stopped nor will he
He does not know which
tune he will sing next
Sometimes he takes
this path
Sometimes the other
one
He stumbles from one
door to the next
I don’t know on whom
he will descend
He had met someone
Someone say what
happened
Was he awake then
Or was it a dream
He is a victim of
self-inflicted pain
I don’t know on whom
he will descend
Hai Apana Dil To Awara (Sad) Fact Sheet
· Movie: Solva Saal
Enjoy the video of Hai Apna Dil To
Awara (Sad). It was not
uncommon for Hindi films to have happy and sad versions of the same song. Such
pairs added value to the album. The musical score was melancholier in the sad
version and the lyrics were plaintive as well. The happy version was for falling
in love and the sad version was for after break-ups. Another such pair from the
movie Jab Jab Phool Khile has been translated here.
