Meta Title: Hai Apna Dil To Awara Sad Version Translated And Explained

Hai Apna Dil To Awara: Sad Version Translated of Solva Saal

Meta Description:  Hai Apna Dil To Awara appears as both sad and happy version in Solva Saal. The Bollywood hit song features Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Enjoy the translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Hai Apna Dil To Awara

After the happy version of Hai Apna Dil To Awara plays aboard the train, Prannath (Dev Anand) helps Laaj (Waheeda Rehman) out of an extremely difficult predicament. The ensuing events bring them closer, and love begins to blossom, though neither expresses their feelings. Having safely escorted Laaj home, Prannath goes back to his carefree ways, but with a new longing in his heart.

This time alone in the train compartment, he gives melancholic expression to his unspoken feelings in the sad version of the song. The first verse reinforces his desire to be free, but the second verse brings out the sadness of incomplete love. The interludes between the verses cut to Laaj, equally wistful, gazing from her balcony and wondering what might have been.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara (Sad)

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

In one place he won’t remain

Which tune will he entertain

Sometimes he will take one lane

Then elsewhere he’s seen

In one place he won’t remain

Which tune will he entertain

Sometimes he will take one lane

Then elsewhere he’s seen

Roaming footloose and chaotic

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

He met someone recently

What came of it, please tell me

Did it happen really

Or was it a dream

He met someone recently

What came of it, please tell me

Did it happen really

Or was it a dream

Self inflicted pain tragic

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara (Sad) from Solva Saal

Hai apna dil to awara

Na jaane kispe aayega

Hai apna dil to awara

Na jaane kispe aayega

Rukega na ruka hai,

Na jaane dhun kya hai

Kabhi ye rasta hai,

Kabhi wo rasta

Rukega na ruka hai,

Na jaane dhun kya hai

Kabhi ye rasta hai,

Kabhi wo rasta

Phire hai dar-ba-dar maara,

Na jaane kispe aayega

Hai apna dil to awara

Na jaane kispe aayega

Kisi se ye mila tha,

Bataaye koi kya tha

Bedaari ka sama tha

Ke tha wo sapana

Kisi se ye mila tha,

Bataaye koi kya tha

Bedaari ka sama tha

Ke tha wo sapana

Khud apane dard se haara,

Na jaane kispe aayega

Hai apna dil to awara

Na jaane kispe aayega

Hai apna dil to awara

Na jaane kispe aayega

Meanings of Difficult Urdu Words

Awara = Tramp, Maverick

Dar-ba-dar = From one door to the next

Bedaari = Wakefulness

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara (Sad)

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know on whom he will descend

He has not stopped nor will he

He does not know which tune he will sing next

Sometimes he takes this path

Sometimes the other one

He stumbles from one door to the next

I don’t know on whom he will descend

He had met someone

Someone say what happened

Was he awake then

Or was it a dream

He is a victim of self-inflicted pain

I don’t know on whom he will descend

Enjoy the video of Hai Apna Dil To Awara (Sad). It was not uncommon for Hindi films to have happy and sad versions of the same song. Such pairs added value to the album. The musical score was melancholier in the sad version and the lyrics were plaintive as well. The happy version was for falling in love and the sad version was for after break-ups. Another such pair from the movie Jab Jab Phool Khile has been translated here.

Translation of Hai Apna Dil To Awara Dev Anand Golden Oldie

Hai Apna Dil To Awara – Binaca Geetmala Winner Translated

Meta Description:  Hai Apna Dil To Awara is a Golden Oldie sung by Hemant Kumar for Dev Anand starrer Solva Saal. The happy version was the top song for 1958 in Binaca Geetmala.

Setting the Background for Translating Hai Apna Dil To Awara

Laaj (Waheeda Rehman) has run away from home with her lover, Shyam, intending to marry him against her father's wishes. Prannath (Dev Anand), a journalist who is on the same train, discerns that there is something secretive about the couple. He teases them through his song, which extols the virtues of a footloose and fancy-free heart as opposed to one in a binding commitment. Though Laaj and Shyam leave the compartment in irritation as the song ends, this light-hearted number marks the start of Prannath’s romantic involvement with Laaj.

Trivia about Hai Apna Dil To Awara and Solva Saal

·       Solva Saal is a 1958 Hindi movie loosely based on the Hollywood film Roman Holiday with Dev Anand essaying the role of Gregory Peck and Waheeda Rehman that of Audrey Hepburn.

·       The mouth organ heard in the interlude between the verses is played by Rahul Dev Burman, who was assisting his father.

  •            The director Raj Khosla appears as himself in a cameo role, playing a film director. In this scene, Waheeda's character refuses to wear a low-necked costume required for a shot. There is a heated argument and Khosla eventually storms off the set. The shooting resumes only after the producers intervene. The scene has an interesting real-life background. There was a similar disagreement between the actual Raj Khosla and Waheeda Rehman in her contract for her debut film C.I.D. Waheeda had objected to a clause requiring her to wear revealing costumes and had the clause removed.
  •            It was common in earlier Hindi films to have happy and sad versions of the same song – happy during the falling in love phase and sad during the break-up. Hai Apna Dil To Awara has a sad version as well, which will appear soon at Bollywood Translations.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara

My heart is a maverick

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

Many beauties did beckon

They embraced him one by one

But there was no decision

He wasn’t ready

Many beauties did beckon

They embraced him one by one

But there was no decision

He wasn’t ready

He’s guileless without a trick

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

He’s crazy I confess

No home and no address

He just could not care less

And is fancy free

He’s crazy I confess

No home and no address

He just could not care less

And is fancy free

A falling star so erratic

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

The whole world I have seen

Very helpful I’ve been

This heart of mine is mean

He loves nobody

The whole world I have seen

Very helpful I’ve been

This heart of mine is mean

He loves nobody

A nomad he’s on a trip

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

When he found a mate

She didn’t reciprocate

He gambled away his fate

And proved unlucky

When he found a mate

She didn’t reciprocate

He gambled away his fate

And proved unlucky

A wastrel so pathetic

I don’t know whom he will favour

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know whom he will favour

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara from Solva Saal

Hai apna dil to awara

Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega

Haseenon ne bulaya
Gale se bhee lagaya
Bahot samazaaya,
Yahee na samaza
Haseenon ne bulaya
Gale se bhee lagaya
Bahot samazaaya,
Yahee na samaza
Bahot bhola hain bechara
Na jaane kis pe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega

Ajab hain deewaana
Na dar na thikana
Jameen se begana
Falak se juda
Ajab hain deewaana
Na dar na thikana
Jameen se begana
Falak se juda
Ye ek toota hua tara
Na jaane kis pe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega

Jamaana dekha sara
Hain sab ka sahaara
Ye dil hee humaara
Hua na kisee ka
Jamaana dekha sara
Hain sab ka sahaara
Ye dil hee humaara
Hua na kisee ka
Safar mein hain ye banjara
Na jaane kis pe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega

Hua jo kabhee raajee
To mila naheen kaajee
Jahan pe lagee baazee
Wahee pe hara
Hua jo kabhee raajee
To mila naheen kaajee
Jahan pe lagee baazee
Wahee pe hara
Zamaane bhar ka nakara
Na jaane kis pe aayega
Hai apna dil to awara
Na jaane kispe aayega....

Meanings of Difficult Urdu Words

Awara = Tramp, Maverick

Begana = Stranger, Separated

Falak = Sky (the more common meaning is board or tablet)

Banjara = Nomad

Kaajee (Qazi) = A Muslim law officer that performs marriages

Baazee = Wager

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Hai Apna Dil To Awara

My heart is a maverick

I don’t know on whom he will descend

Beauties called him

Even embraced him

Tried to convince him

But he did not understand

This helpless guy is a simpleton

I don’t know on whom he will descend

He is a strange crazy person

Without home and without address

Not joined to the earth

Separated from the sky

He is like a falling star

I don’t know on whom he will descend

I have seen the whole world

Have received help from everyone

But this heart of mine

Could not belong to anyone

He is a nomad in a journey

I don’t know on whom he will descend

When he was ready (to get married)

A qazi could not be found

Wherever he could gamble

There he lost

He is the biggest good for nothing

I don’t know on whom he will descend

Translation of Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye Hit Romantic Duet

Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye – Translation of Prem Pujari Duet

Meta Description:  Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaaye is a popular song from Prem Pujari. It features the hit Bollywood pair of Dev Anand and Waheeda Rehman. Enjoy the poetic translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye

Shokhiyon Mein Ghola Jaaye stands as the quintessential Bollywood duet of the 1960s. The poetic lyrics proclaim eternal love, while the lilting tune lingers in the mind long after the music fades. Shot against authentic rural backdrops that align with the film's narrative, the song captures Dev Anand as Ram and Waheeda Rehman as Suman, playfully weaving through haystacks providing mesmerizing expressions of love. Though Prem Pujari underperformed at the box office, its soundtrack has achieved legendary status. Translations of other popular songs from Prem Pujari are coming soon.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye

Kishore

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Then to that enchanted brew add

Just a splash of wine

Then the euphoria you will feel

Yes Then the euphoria you will feel

That is love

Kishore

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Then to that enchanted brew add

Just a splash of wine

Then the euphoria you will feel

That is love

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Lata

That innocent happiness

An ambience that is carefree

If provoked it sparks to flame

If caressed it is dewy

That innocent happiness

An ambience that is carefree

If provoked it sparks to flame

If caressed it is dewy

In crowds or paths unknown

On roads or all alone

The thing you cannot conceal

That is love

Lata

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Then to that enchanted brew add

Just a splash of wine

Kishore

Oh! Then the euphoria you will feel

That is love

Both

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Kishore

The colour of molten gold

Flows through your skin so bright

Like some melodious tune

Playing softly in the night

The colour of molten gold

Flows through your skin so bright

Like some melodious tune

Playing softly in the night

In the sun in the shade

Through winds like branches swayed

Everlasting like time’s wheel

That is love

Kishore

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Then to that enchanted brew add

Just a splash of wine

Lata

Hooo Then the euphoria you will feel

Kishore

Is love

Kishore

If I remember her

Lata

Hoo If I remember him

Loneliness fades away

As in a deserted city

Festive music starts to play

Kishore

If I remember her

Loneliness fades away

As in a deserted city

Festive music starts to play

Both

When you come or depart

With joy or aching heart

It will never abate – the zeal

That is love

Both

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

Then to that enchanted brew add

Just a splash of wine

Kishore

Then the euphoria you will feel

Lata

That is love

Both

With playful revelry you stir

Flowery youth divine

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye from Prem Pujari

Kishore

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab
Usame phir milaayi jaaye
thodi si sharaab
Hoga yun nasha jo taiyar
Haan hoga yun nasha jo taiyar
woh pyaar hain

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab
Usame phir milaayi jaaye
thodi si sharaab
Hoga yun nasha jo taiyar
Haan hoga yun nasha jo taiyar
woh pyaar hain

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab

Lata

Hasata huwa bachpan woh
Bahaka huwa mausam hain
Chhedo toh ek shola hain
Chhulo toh bas shabnam hain
Hasata huwa bachpan woh
Bahaka huwa mausam hain
Chhedo toh ek shola hain
Chhulo toh bas shabnam hain
Gaanv mein mele mein
Raah mein akele mein
Aata jo yaad baar baar

woh pyaar hain
Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab
Usame phir milaayi jaaye
thodi si sharaab

Kishore
Arre hoga yun nasha jo taiyar
woh pyaar hain

Both

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab

Kishore

Rang mein pighale sona
Ang se yun ras chhalake
Jaise baje dhun koyi
Raat mein halke halke
Rang mein pighale sona
Ang se yun ras chhalake
Jaise baje dhun koyi
Raat mein halke halke
Dhup me chhanv mein
Jhumati hawaao mein

Hardam kare jo intjaar
woh pyaar hain

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye
phoolo kaa shabaab
Usame phir milaayi jaaye
thodi si sharaab

Lata
Hooo hoga yun nasha jo taiyar

Kishore

woh pyaar

Yaad agar woh aaye

Lata
Hoo yaad agar woh aaye
Aise kate tanahaayi
Soone shahar mein jaise
Bajane lage shahanaayi

Kishore

Yaad agar woh aaye
Aise kate tanahaayi
Soone shahar mein jaise
Bajane lage shahanaayi

Both
Aanaa ho jaana ho
Kaisa bhi jamaana ho
Utare kabhi naa jo khumaar
Woh pyaar hain

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye

phoolo kaa shabaab
Usame phir milaayi jaaye

thodi si sharaab

Kishore
Hoga yun nasha jo taiyar

Lata

woh pyaar hain

Both

Shokhiyo mein ghola jaaye

phoolo kaa shabaab

Meanings of Difficult Urdu Words

Shokhi = Vivaciousness

Shabaab = Youthfulness

Bahaka = Deceptive

Shabnam = Dew

Khumaar = Intoxication

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Shokhiyo Mein Ghola Jaaye

With vivaciousness you stir

The youthfulness of flowers

In that then you mix

A little bit of wine

The intoxication thus prepared

That is love

That happy childishness

The weather that is deceptive

If you provoke it is a burning ember

If you caress it is just dew

In village or in fair

On the road or alone

Which you remember again and again

That is love

Gold melts into your hue

And flows through your body

Like a tune playing

Softly in the night

In sunlight or in shade

In the swaying breezes

Which will always wait

That is love

If she/he comes to mind

Loneliness vanishes like this

As if in a deserted city

Wedding music starts playing

When you coming or going

Whatever is happening in the world

The intensity never abates

That is love
