Dekha Ek Khwab – English Translation of Duet from Silsila

Dekha Ek Khwab – English Translation of Duet from Silsila

Meta Description:  Dekha Ek Khwab is a popular Bollywood duet from the Yash Chopra film Silsila. The movie revolves around an extra-marital affair between the characters played by Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha. Superimpose my English lyrics on the instrumental track of Dekha Ek Khwab and sing along karaoke style.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Dekha Ek Khwab

Kishore:

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Blooming flower fields stretch till the end of ones gaze

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Blooming flower fields stretch till the end of ones gaze

Lata:

There is something wrong with your vision

Flowers in between us appear to you as space

Kishore:

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Blooming flower fields stretch till the end of ones gaze

Kishore:

Your fragrance lingers over my being

Lata:

This is the magic of love we’re seeing

Kishore:

The winds echo your melodious sound

Lata:

Intimate hues in nature abound

Kishore:

Your love songs my heartbeats embrace

Lata:

But on my two lips a blushing silence stays

Kishore:

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Lata:

Flowers in between us appear to you as space

Lata:

You provide shelter to my throbbing heart

Kishore:

We promise that we will never part

Lata:

Your image in my eye is a work of art

Kishore:

Your presence lights up every path

Lata:

Even if the sun conceals its bright rays

Kishore:

Lamps of our love will set the darkness ablaze

Kishore:

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Blooming flower fields stretch till the end of ones gaze

Lata:

There is something wrong with your vision

Flowers in between us appear to you as space

Lata & Kishore:

Because we lived our dream these affairs took place

Blooming flower fields stretch till the end of ones gaze

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Dekha Ek Khwab from Silsila

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Door tak nigahon mein hain gul khile hue

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Door tak nigahon mein hain gul khile hue

Yeh gila hai aapki nigahon se

Phool bhi ho darmiyaan to faasle hue

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Door tak nigahon mein hain gul khile hue

Meri saanson mein basi khushboo teri

Yeh tere pyaar ki hai jadugari

Teri aawaz hai havaaon mein

Pyar ka rang hai phizaaon  mein

Dhadkanon mein tere geet hain mile hue

Kya kahun ke sharm se hain lub sile hue

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Phool bhi ho darmiyaan to faasle hue

Mera dil hai teri panaahon mein

Aa chhupa loon tujhe main baahon mein

Teri tasveer hai nigaahon mein

Door tak roshni hai raahon mein

Kal agar na roshni ke kaafile hue

Pyar ke hazaar deep hain jale hue

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Door tak nigahon mein hain gul khile hue

Yeh gila hai aapki nigahon se

Phool bhi ho darmiyaan to faasle hue

Dekha ek khwab to yeh silsile hue

Door tak nigahon mein hain gul khile hue

Dekha Ek Khwab Fact Sheet
·       Movie: Silsila
·       Singer: Lata Mangeshkar & Kishore Kumar
·       Lyricist: Javed Akhtar
·       Composer: Shiv-Hari
·       On Screen: Amitabh Bachchan & Rekha

  • Director & Producer: Yash Chopra

When Silsila was released in 1981, Amitabh Bachchan and Rekha were the ultimate star pair, having delivered a string of blockbusters together. Rumours were rife that the two were engaged in an extra-marital affair.

The casting of the movie fuelled this rumour. Amit (Amitabh) and Shobha (Jaya) are unhappily married, being a marriage of compulsion rather than love. Amit’s chance meeting with Chandni (Rekha), his sweetheart before marriage reawakens the passion. This was considered a casting coup, but the movie failed at the box office. The music, however, was a super-hit.
