Translation of Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Lyrics from Brahmachari

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein: Poetic Translation of Brahmachari Song

Meta Description: Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein is a popular Bollywood song from the Shammi Kapoor starrer Brahmchari. Mohammad Rafi won Best Playback Singer Filmfare Award for this song.

Setting the Background for Translating Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein

Brahmachari (Shammi Kapoor) runs an orphanage out of his own home, supporting it by singing at a nightclub. One day, he rescues a young woman, Sheetal (Rajshree), from attempting suicide. Sheetal is heartbroken over Ravi Khanna (Pran), a wealthy man who has spurned her because of her unsophisticated manners. Moved by her plight, Brahmachari promises to help her win Ravi's love by transforming her into a refined, high-society woman.

As Brahmachari guides her through this transformation, he unexpectedly falls in love with her. However, the newly poised Sheetal is accepted by Ravi, who takes her to the very nightclub where Brahmachari performs. During his act, Brahmachari sings the poignant Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein, pouring his heart out in a song that reveals his unspoken love. Sheetal, touched by the raw emotion in Brahmachari's performance, realizes that she, too, has fallen in love with him. This moment of revelation marks a turning point in the story, as emotions and loyalties are tested, leading the narrative in a new direction.

Dil Ke Jharokhe Main as a Piano Song

Piano songs hold a special place in Bollywood cinema, often accompanying emotionally charged moments—and this scene is no exception. Brahmachari pours out his feelings at the piano, his voice echoing with longing and intensity. Meanwhile, on the dance floor, an equally dramatic tableau unfolds during the musical interludes. A line of innocent young women dressed in pure white is flanked on one side by polished, well-mannered suitors and on the other by cunning, dark-clad rakes. This vibrant rock-and-roll showdown becomes a symbolic reflection of the emotional tug-of-war between Sheetal, Brahmachari, and Ravi.

The Rhythm of Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein

During the recording of Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein, Shammi Kapoor humorously challenged Mohammed Rafi to sing the opening verse of the song in one breath. Rafi accepted the challenge and fulfilled it with immaculate perfection. The rhythm that was created by this, and adopted for the remaining verses, raised the intensity of the song to the next level.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein

I’ll enshrine you in the window of my heart

With your memories I promise not to part

You’ll always be close to me

My darling do not worry

I’ll enshrine you in the window of my heart

With your memories I promise not to part

You’ll always be close to me

My darling do not worry

Tomorrow your beauty may charm someone else

But your images will be etched in my dreams

You'll depart in a flower-draped palanquin

Yet your fragrance will stay in my breath streams

Tomorrow your beauty may charm someone else

But your images will be etched in my dreams

You'll depart in a flower-draped palanquin

Yet your fragrance will stay in my breath streams

I’ll enshrine you in the window of my heart

With your memories I promise not to part

You’ll always be close to me

My darling do not worry

Your crimson lips appear as a carafe

Now poised to pour out wine both rich and rare

The mesmerising silken tresses of yours

Still cling to me even though you are not there

Your crimson lips appear as a carafe

Now poised to pour out wine both rich and rare

The mesmerising silken tresses of yours

Still cling to me even though you are not there

I’ll enshrine you in the window of my heart

With your memories I promise not to part

You’ll always be close to me

My darling do not worry

Betray my love if that is what you desire

You will not hear even a word in complaint

Your sacred image is ensconced in my eyes

Forever I will worship you as a saint

Betray my love if that is what you desire

You will not hear even a word in complaint

Your sacred image is ensconced in my eyes

Forever I will worship you as a saint

I’ll enshrine you in the window of my heart

With your memories I promise not to part

You’ll always be close to me

My darling do not worry

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein from Brahmachari

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujhko Bithakar
Yaadon Ko Teri Mein Dulhan Banakar
Rakhoonga Mein Dil Ke Paas
Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujhko Bithakar
Yaadon Ko Teri Mein Dulhan Banakar
Rakhoonga Mein Dil Ke Paas
Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas

Kal Tere Jalwe Paraye Bhi Honge
Lekin Jhalak Mere Khwabon Mein Hogi
Phoolon Ki Doli Mein Hogi Tu Rukhsat
Lekin Mehak Meri Sanson Mein Hogi

Kal Tere Jalwe Paraye Bhi Honge
Lekin Jhalak Mere Khwabon Mein Hogi
Phoolon Ki Doli Mein Hogi Tu Rukhsat
Lekin Mehak Meri Sanson Mein Hogi

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujhko Bithakar
Yaadon Ko Teri Mein Dulhan Banakar
Rakhoonga Mein Dil Ke Paas
Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas

Ab Bhi Tere Surkh Hothon Ke Pyaale
Mere Tassavur Mein Saki Baney Hain
Ab Bhi Teri Zulf Ke Mast Saaye
Birha Ki Dhoop Mein Sathi Baney Hain

Ab Bhi Tere Surkh Hothon Ke Pyaale
Mere Tassavur Mein Saki Baney Hain
Ab Bhi Teri Zulf Ke Mast Saaye
Birha Ki Dhoop Mein Sathi Baney Hain

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujhko Bithakar
Yaadon Ko Teri Mein Dulhan Banakar
Rakhoonga Mein Dil Ke Paas
Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas

Meri Mohabbat Ko Thukra De Chahe
Mein Koi Tujhse Na Shikva Karoonga
Aankhon Mein Rehti Hai Tasveer Teri
Saari Umar Teri Pooja Karoonga

Meri Mohabbat Ko Thukra De Chahe
Mein Koi Tujhse Na Shikva Karoonga
Aankhon Mein Rehti Hai Tasveer Teri
Saari Umar Teri Pooja Karoonga

Dil Ke Jharokhe Mein Tujhko Bithakar
Yaadon Ko Teri Mein Dulhan Banakar
Rakhoonga Mein Dil Ke Paas
Mat Ho Meri Jaan Udaas

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Ruaan

Seating you in the window of my heart

Making your memories my bride

I will keep you close to my heart

My darling do not be sad

Tomorrow your charm may be for some other

But your glimpse will be in my dreams

You will depart in a flower draped palanquin

But the fragrance will remain in my breath

Even now the cup formed by your red lips

In my imagination pour out wine

Even now the shades from your intoxicating tresses

Are companions in the heat of separation

I will not make any complaint

Your image resides in my eyes

I will worship it all my life

Khwab Ho Tum Translation of Hit Piano Song from Teen Devian

Khwab Ho Tum – Poetic Translation of Bollywood Piano Song

Meta Description:  Khwab Ho Tum is a piano song from the movie Teen Devian. It features Dev Anand on screen with playback singing of Kishore Kumar. Enjoy the poetic translation.

Setting the Background to Khwab Ho Tum Yaa Koi Haqeeqat

The piano has long been the most loyal companion of the leading actors in Hindi films, providing the perfect backdrop for moments of both sorrow and celebration. It is rare to find a star who hasn’t poured their emotions into the keys or been serenaded by them. This journey begins in 1938 with the film Bhabhi, where Jairaj first strikes the notes, and spans to Ayushmann Khurrana in Andhadhun and beyond. This blog is not about listing such songs, but rather about relishing their translations. Take Khwab Ho Tum, for example, where Dev Anand shines in his flamboyant best, becoming the life of the party.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Khwab Ho Tum

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

As if the morning is

Covered by the dark night

As if the morning is

Covered by the dark night

Your face in flowing hair

Half hidden and half bright

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

The ears of my soul heard

The patter of your feet

The ears of my soul heard

The patter of your feet

Serenely began to flow

The rhythm of my heart beat

Serenely began to flow

The rhythm of my heart beat

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

On every turn you and I

Somehow we do meet

On every turn you and I

Somehow we do meet

But you leave suddenly

Our story incomplete

But you leave suddenly

Our story incomplete

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

Please call me once again

Let us meet face to face

Please call me once again

Let us meet face to face

When I fall please hold me

In your arms embrace

When I fall please hold me

In your arms embrace

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

You’re a dream or someone real

Please tell me who you are

Oo Come close to me for a long time

You’ve been standing far

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Khwab Ho Tum from Teen Devian

Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqeeqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Der se kitani door khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao

Subah pe jis tarah
Shaam kaa ho gumaar
Subah pe jis tarah
Shaam kaa ho gumaar
Zulfo me ek cheharaa
Kuchh zaahir kuchh nihaar

Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao
Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao

Dhadakano ne suni
Ek sadaa paao ki
Dhadakano ne suni
Ek sadaa paao ki
Aur dil pe laharaai
Aanchal ki chhaao si
Aur dil pe laharaai
Aanchal ki chhaao si

Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao
Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao

Mil hi jaati ho tum
Mujhako har mod pe
Mil hi jaati ho tum
Mujhako har mod pe
Chal deti ho kitane
Afasaane chhod ke
Chal deti ho kitane
Afasaane chhod ke

Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao
Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao

Phir pukaaro mujhe
Phir meraa naam lo
Phir pukaaro mujhe
Phir meraa naam lo
Girataa hun phir apni
Baaho me thaam lo
Girataa hun phir apni
Baaho me thaam lo

Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao
Khwaab ho tum yaa koi haqiqat
Kaun ho tum batalaao
Oo der se kitani dur khadi ho
Aur karib aa jaao

Maine Tere Liye Hi Gulzar Popular Song Translated in English

Maine Tere Liye Hi – Karaoke English Translation of Lyrics

Meta Description:  Maine Tere Liye Hi is a Bollywood song from Rajesh Khanna film Anand. It is a Gulzar- Salil Chowdhary – Mukesh song. Enjoy my English lyrics on the soundtrack.

About Anand the 1971 Movie

In Anand, Hrishikesh Mukherjee presents a “clean” movie with no trace of any sex or violence. Rajesh Khanna was at his peak and this was Amitabh Bachchan’s first hit. Not only did Anand score at the box office, but reaped handsome rewards at the Filmfare Awards that year, though not in the Best Lyricist category.

·       Best Film: Hrishikesh Mukherjee and N. C. Sippy

·       Best Story: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

·       Best Editing: Hrishikesh Mukherjee

·       Best Actor: Rajesh Khanna

·       Best Supporting Actor: Amitabh Bachchan

·       Best Dialogue: Gulzar

Maine Tere Liye Hi has a unique lilt, and I have endeavoured to preserve the pauses and the rhythm of the original in my English translation. This will make it easy to sing the translated lyrics to the original soundtrack karaoke style.

The Karaoke English Translation of the Lyrics of Maine Tere Liye Hi

I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

Some old ones some brand new

The shadows from your eyebrows stolen by lively memories

O I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

Trivial events

The small trivial events can be very potent

Does not forget even a single trifling moment

Trivial events

The small trivial events can be very potent

Does not forget even a single trifling moment

Have waited for you patiently through all these many eternities

O I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

Forlorn nights

Nights that are forlorn I have pampered often

Only for you I have beckoned dawns that are golden

Forlorn nights

Nights that are forlorn I have pampered often

Only for you I have beckoned dawns that are golden

When you are not there lamps have been lit for you by my agonies

O I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

Naïve and simple

Naïve simple heart I consoled and conned

My loneliness with your images I always adorned

Naïve and simple

Naïve simple heart I consoled and conned

My loneliness with your images I always adorned

Often times I was roused by the beckoning of my fantasies

O I have selected dreams of seven colours just for you

Dreams musical dreams

sapane, surile sapane

chhoti baaten,

chhoti, chhoti baaton ki hain yaade badi

bhule nahin, biti hui ek chhoti ghadi

chhoti baaten,

chhoti, chhoti baaton ki hain yaade badi

bhule nahin, biti hui ek chhoti ghadi

janam janam se ankhe bichhaai tere liye in raahon ne

o maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapane chune

sapane, surile sapane

ruthhi raaten,

ruthhi hui raaton ko manaaya kabhi

tere liye mithhi subah ko bulaaya kabhi

ruthhi raaten,

ruthhi hui raaton ko manaaya kabhi

tere liye mithhi subah ko bulaaya kabhi

tere bina bhi tere liye hi diye jalaae ahon ne

o maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapane chune

sapane, surile sapane

bhole bhaale,

bhole bhaale dil ko bahalaate rahe

tanahaai men tere khyaalon ko sajaate rahe

bhole bhaale,

bhole bhaale dil ko bahalaate rahe

tanahaai men tere khyaalon ko sajaate rahe

kabhi kabhi to awaaz dekar mujhako jagaaya khwaabon ne

o maine tere liye hi saat rang ke sapane chune

sapane, surile sapane

Aap Ke Haseen Rukh Translation of Bollywood Piano Song

Aap Ke Haseen Rukh – Translation of Hit Bollywood Piano Song

Meta Description: Aap Ke Haseen Rukh is one of the best-known piano songs from Hindi movies. Enjoy the lyrics by Anjaan rendered in Rafi’s haunting voice.

Setting the Background for Translating Aap Ke Haseen Rukh

Aap Ke Haseen Rukh from Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi belongs to the genre that is referred to as piano songs in Hindi films, which have the hero playing the piano while singing to his love interest. What makes Aap Ke Haseen Rukh stand out is that Dharmendra is serenading two beautiful ladies, Mala Sinha and Tanuja, who are listening in rapt attention each one of them coyly imagining to be the recipient of the praise. To find out who the lucky lady was you will have to see Baharen Phir Bhi Aayengi. I do not want to play spoiler.

This is one of the most popular Rafi songs because the haunting inflections of the playback singer are on full display. The black and white film accentuates the light and shade in harmony with O.P. Nayyar’s lilting music.

But this blog is about Bollywood lyrics English translation. I want to focus on the lyric writer Anjaan. Till then he was a small-time lyricist depending on the mercy of music directors. This song propelled him to the big league and he ended up writing songs for blockbuster Amitabh Bachchan movies. The lyrics of Aap Ke Haseen Rukh are “Gulzaresque”. Anjaan uses repeated words in almost every line with telling effect. Normally “subah subah ki dhoop” would hinder the flow of the music, but such is lyric writer Anjaan’s virtuosity that such repetitions do not appear awkward. Instead, they create the rhythm that takes listeners to a higher plane of enjoyment.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Aap Ke Haseen Rukh

Your beautiful face is flush with a fresh glow today

It’s not my fault that my heart’s been led astray

Your inviting glance has surely something to convey

It’s not my fault that my heart’s been led astray

Your beauty blossoms in the shade of your flowing hair

Like the morning sunlight filtering through the hazy air

Happiness abounds wherever you choose to stay

It’s not my fault that my heart’s been led astray

Even with your lowered gaze you know how to beguile

Restless passion emanates from your subdued smile

Your bewitching youth is intoxicating all the way

It’s not my fault that my heart’s been led astray

The season changes wherever your footsteps fall

And spring spreads everywhere with its verdant shawl

Your fatal attraction holds me in your sway

It’s not my fault that my heart’s been led astray

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Aap Ke Haseen Rukh from Baharein Phir Bhi Aayengi

Aap ke haseen rukh pe aaj naya noor hai

Mera dil machal gaya to mera kya kasoor hai

Aap ke nigaah ne kaha to kuchh zaroor hai

Mera dil machal gaya to mera kya kasoor hai

Khuli laton ki chhaanw mein khila khila ye roop hai

Ghata se jaise chhan rahi, subah subah ki dhoop hai

Jidhar nazar mudi, udhar suroor hi suroor hai

Mera dil machal gaya to mera kya kasoor hai

Jhuki jhuki nigaah mein bhi hain bala ki shokhiyaan

Dabi dabi hasi mein bhi tadap rahi hain bijaliyaan

Shabaab aap ka nashe mein khud hi choor choor hai

Mera dil machal gaya to mera kya kasoor hai

Jahaan jahaan pade kadam wahaan fiza badal gai

Ke jaise sarabasar bahaar aap hi mein dhal gai

Kisi mein ye kashish kahaan jo aap mein huzoor hai

Mera dil machal gaya to mera kya kasur hai

Meanings of Difficult Urdu Words

Suroor = bliss

Bala = astonishment, awe

Shokhiyaan = vivaciousness

Shabaab = youth

Sarabasar = entirely

Kashish = attraction
