Angaaron Translation of Telegu Song from Pushpa 2 The Rule

Angaaron: Translation and Meaning of Rashmika Mandanna Song

Meta Description:  Angaaron is the Hindi version of Telugu song from Pushpa 2: The Rule sung by Shreya Ghoshal. Sing my English translation karaoke style to the original track.

Setting the Background for Angaaron from Pushpa 2: The Rule

Pushpa: The Rise was a blockbuster hit in 2021, and its much-anticipated sequel, Pushpa 2: The Rule, is finally set to release on December 5, 2024. Like the original, the film will primarily be in Telugu but will also be available in several other languages, including Hindi. Expectations have soared since the release of the song Sooseki in May. Its behind-the-scenes audio version has generated significant buzz. In Hindi the song is titled Angaaron, and is also being referred to as The Couple Song on social media. My translation is based on the lyrics of Angaaron.

The English Transcreation of the Lyrics of Angaaron

He’s stone hearted people accuse people abuse

But loyal is my beloved

He’s a butcher the cries resound and all around

But royal is my beloved

Ho! He is crude I’m told his heart is of gold

Why do people perceive him as being cruel

When I find only a lover a darling in him

As splendid as the fiery showers is my good lord

As soft as a pathway of flowers is my good lord

Ho! Blazing fire raging ire were for everyone to see

Cooling streams soothing dreams were reserved only for me

Pride in handlebar moustache was for people to see

But the soft smile beneath it was meant only for me

Of a cheetah he challenges the speed

To his power everyone pays heed

When he rests head on my lap buried

Then his tiredness Shrivalli only can read

As splendid as the fiery showers is my good lord

As soft as a pathway of flowers is my good lord

Ho! He distributes expensive gifts he shows all his regal face

But he diffidently asks me for one warm loving embrace

The most difficult of problems he solves before your fingers snap

But if he cannot find his shirt I must help the crazy chap

Away from home the people outside

Fall at his feet in awe and dread

A secret in you I’ll confide

He will never leave home till I kiss his forehead

As splendid as the fiery showers is my good lord

If one gets such a loving mate like a queen she’ll be adored

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Angaaron from Pushpa 2: The Rule

Angaaron is a transcreation of the original Telugu Sooseki, and not a literal translation.

Patthar hai vo mujhe rok tok kahate hain log

Par mom sa hai mera jaanu

Nashtar hai vo yahi door door goonje fitoor

Par badashah hai mera jaanu

Ho kadavi hai boli dil hai rangoli

Isamein patthar kyon log dekhate hain

Mujhako to dikhata hai isame koi sanam

Angaaron ka ambar sa lagata hai mera saami

Meri raahon mein phoolon ka raasta hai mera saami

Ho aag dekhi taab dekhi isaki aankhon mein sabane

Aab dekha khvaab dekha isaki aankhon mein hamane

Isake munchon mein bala ke dekhi hain shaan sabane

Par inhin munchon ke pichhe dekhi muskaan hamane

Sheron ki agar raftaar ho usaki

Rahati hai us pe sabaki nazar

So jae jab sar god mein rakhakar

Isaki thakaan to Shrivalli ko ho khabar

Angaaron ka ambar sa lagata hai mera saami

Meri raahon mein phoolon ka raasta hai mera saami

Ho mahange mahange baante taufe ye hai isaki navaabi

Mujhase dar dar ke ye maangein ek jhappi gulaabi

Masala kitana bhi ho mushkil chutakiyon mein kar le hal

Kurta isaka na mile to maangein mujhase ye paagal

Ghar se alag baahar ki duniya

Jhukate rahe isake aage

Par jab jab ghar se nikale

Maathe pe tilak mujhase aake maange

Angaaron ka ambar sa lagata hai mera saami

Aisa gharawala mil jae to gharwali maharani

Explanation of the Lyrics of Angaaron

Meaning of Mera Saami

In Telegu, saami is a corruption of “swami”, which means lord or master. Traditionally Indian women refer to their husbands as swami. Srivalli, the character that sings this number on the screen, is married to Pushpa Raj.

The Essence of the Song

Shrivalli says that people do believe her husband to be a cruel, powerful, and arrogant person. But with her he is as gentle as a lamb and she is blessed to be married to him.

The Literal Translation of Angaaron

People stop and complain that he is stone hearted

But my lover is as soft as wax

From far and loud is the cry that he is like a butcher

But my lover is like a king

His language is crude but his heart is colourful

Why do people see a stone in him

I see only a lover in him

My lord looks like a fiery sky

My lord is like a path of flowers in my way

Everyone sees fire and power in his eyes

But I see water and dreams in his eyes

Everyone has seen great pride in his moustache

But I have seen the smile hidden by the moustache

His speed is like that of tigers

Everyone looks up to him

When he sleeps with his head on my lap

Only Shrivalli can say how tired he is

My lord looks like a fiery sky

My lord is like a path of flowers in my way

Ho! Like an aristocrat he distributes expensive gifts

But he is afraid to ask me for a hug

No matter how difficult the problem, he can solve it in a flash

But if he cannot find his kurta then this crazy man seeks my help

Away from home the world outside

May bow down to him

But whenever he leaves home

He comes to me for putting the auspicious tilak on his forehead

My lord looks like a fiery sky

If any woman gets a husband like him, she will live like an empress

Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar Arth Ghazal Translated and Explained

Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar – Translation of Jagjit Singh Ghazal

Meta Description:  Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar is a Bollywood ghazal song from Mahesh Bhatt movie Arth.  This is a background song by Jagjit Singh. Read the translation and explanation.

Setting the Background for Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar

Pooja's husband has abandoned her, and instead of accepting his financial support, she chooses to forge a new path on her own. As she navigates this fresh chapter, she meets Raj, who quickly falls for her. Pooja feels a connection but refuses to acknowledge her feelings, prioritizing her independence above all. At a friend's gathering, the song plays in the background, and Raj's lingering glances seem to probe her inner turmoil, asking questions she's not ready to answer.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar

Your lowered gaze cannot hide suppressed desire, isn’t it

Your lowered gaze cannot hide suppressed desire, isn’t it

The buds of love to blossom they do aspire, isn’t it

Your lowered gaze cannot hide

Please first ask your pulsating heartbeats and then let me know

Please first ask your pulsating heartbeats and then let me know

If you do not long for me, you are a liar, isn’t it

The buds of love to blossom they do aspire, isn’t it

Your lowered gaze cannot hide

There comes a moment when youthful love seeks fulfilment

There comes a moment when youthful love seeks fulfilment

You’re waiting for that moment to transpire, isn’t it,

The buds of love to blossom they do aspire, isn’t it

Your lowered gaze cannot hide

Putting faith in you I want to take the world head on

Putting faith in you I want to take the world head on

You can that confidence in me inspire, isn’t it

The buds of love to blossom they do aspire, isn’t it

Your lowered gaze cannot hide

vo pal ke jis mein mohabbat javaan hoti hai

vo pal ke jis mein mohabbat javaan hoti hai

us ek pal ka tujhe intezaar hai ki nahin

dabaa dabaa sa sahi dil mein pyaar hai ki nahin

jhuki jhuki si nazar

teri ummeed pe thukaraa rahaa hun duniyaa ko

teri ummeed pe thukaraa rahaa hun duniyaa ko

tujhe bhi apane pe ye aitabaar hai ki nahin

dabaa dabaa sa sahi dil mein pyaar hai ki nahin

jhuki jhuki si nazar

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Jhuki Jhuki Si Nazar

jhuki jhuki si nazar beqaraar hai ki nahin

your lowered gaze is impatient for love or not

dabaa dabaa sa sahi dil mein pyaar hai ki nahin

even though supressed there is love in your heart or not

tu apane dil ki javaan dhadakanon ko gin ke bataa

You count the youthful beats of your heart and tell me

meri tarah tera dil beqaraar hai ki nahin

your heart is impatient like mine or not

vo pal ke jis mein mohabbat javaan hoti hai

that moment when love craves for expression

us ek pal ka tujhe intezaar hai ki nahin

are you waiting for that moment or not

teri ummeed pe thukaraa rahaa hun duniyaa ko

hoping for your reciprocation I am abandoning my world

tujhe bhi apane pe ye aitabaar hai ki nahin

do you have confidence in yourself or not

Waqt Ne Kiya Kya Haseen Sitam Explanation and Translation

Waqt Ne Kiya – English Translation and Meaning of Guru Dutt Song

Meta Description:  Waqt Ne Kiya is an iconic song from Guru Dutt’s Kaagaz Ke Phool. Several meanings are available for kya haseen sitam. Read my explanation of Geeta Dutt song.

The Meaning and Explanation of Kya Haseen Sitam

Haseen Sitam is a powerful oxymoron, juxtaposing the words for beautiful (haseen) and oppression (sitam). Such contradictions often require deeper interpretation rather than a literal understanding. In nature, beauty can indeed be terrifying, a phenomenon captured in the aesthetic concept of “awe.” For instance, the image of molten lava cascading down a mountainside and crashing into the ocean evokes both beauty and fear—a striking example of duality. Clearly, this will not apply to the song.

The narrative of Kaagaz Ke Phool unfolds as a textbook tragedy. The inevitable calamitous conclusion seems preordained, with fate relentlessly steering the characters toward their doom. This perfect progression toward an unfortunate end can be seen as beautiful, because perfection is often seen as beauty. Therefore, I interpret haseen sitam perfect tragedy.

The English Transcreation of the Lyrics of Waqt Ne Kiya

Time sealed our fate perfect tragedy

From what we were then both changed fully

Time sealed our fate perfect tragedy

From what we were then both changed fully

Time sealed our fate

We came together impatient of heart

It was as if we were never apart

We came together impatient of heart

It was as if we were never apart

Then our separate paths were compelled to chart

After a few steps on the same journey

Time sealed our fate perfect tragedy

From what we were then both changed fully

Time sealed our fate

Where to go from here what’s the way ahead

Our hearts urge us on our minds filled with dread

Where to go from here what’s the way ahead

Our hearts urge us on our minds filled with dread

What do we desire there’s no clue no thread

We are weaving dreams no reality

Time sealed our fate perfect tragedy

From what we were then both changed fully

Time sealed our fate perfect tragedy

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Waqt Ne Kiya from Kaagaz Ke Phool

waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

tum rahe na tum hum rahe na hum

waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

tum rahe na tum hum rahe na hum

waqt ne kiya...

beqaraar dil is tarah mile

jis tarah kabhi hum judaa na the

beqaraar dil is tarah mile

jis tarah kabhi hum judaa na the

tum bhi kho gaye, hum bhi kho gaye

ek raah par chalake do qadam

waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

tum rahe na tum hum rahe na hum

waqt ne kiya...

jaenge kahaan soojhataa  nahin

chal pade magar raastaa nahin

jaenge kahaan soojhataa  nahin

chal pade magar raastaa nahin

kyaa talaash hai kuchh pataa nahin

bun rahe hain dil khwaab dam-ba-dam

waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

tum rahe na tum hum rahe na hum

waqt ne kiya kya haseen sitam

Meaning of Urdu words

Haseen = beautiful

Sitam = oppression, tragedy

Beqaraar = impatient

Bun = To weave

Dam-ba-dam = incessantly

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Waqt Ne Kiya

Time imposed on us what a beautiful tragedy

You changed from what you were and so did I

Our impatient hearts met this way

As if we had never been separate from each other

Then you got lost somewhere and so did I

After taking just two steps on the same path

Cannot understand where we will go

We have embarked but there is no road

What are we in search of we have no idea

Our hearts are weaving dreams at every step

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha English Translation of Filmfare Award Song

Ek Ladki Ko Dekha  – Translation of Javed Akhtar Hit Song

Meta Description:  Ek Ladki Ko Dekha is a Bollywood song from 1942 A Love Story.  Javed Akhtar, R. D. Burman, and Kumar Sanu are contributors. Enjoy the English translation.

Setting the Background to Ek Ladki ko Dekha

I have always believed that beauty, or any strong emotion, is best expressed through comparison rather than direct definition. Javed Akhtar’s Ek Ladki Ko Dekha embodies this idea perfectly.

When I first heard this song, it immediately reminded me of two cherished pieces of poetry. The first is My Favourite Things from The Sound of Music. You can listen to it here. The second is a verse from the Ramcharitmanas, where Rama describes Sita upon seeing her for the first time:

Her beauty enhances beauty itself,

Like purifying incense in a temple,

All the similes of poets fall short in her presence—

How then should I describe the beloved daughter of Janak?

Tulsidas acknowledges that even comparisons are inadequate, yet they remain our only means to capture such transcendent beauty.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

When I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

Like a flowering rose,

Like a gemstone that glows,

Like a bright ray of hope,

Like the bubbles of soap,

Like a clear full-moon night,

Like the winter sunlight,

Like a supplicant feels humble devotion

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

When I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

Like the freshness of dawn,

Like an innocent fawn,

Like a poet’s grand dream,

Like the waves in a stream,

Like a twining green vine,

Like a presence divine,

Like her each step was poetry in motion

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

When I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

Like a peacock’s bright wings,

Like a web of silk strings,

Like an angelic choir,

Like a sandalwood fire,

Like a bride’s blushing cheeks,

Like the virgin snow peaks,

Like the euphoria of love’s magic potion

O, when I saw her I felt, a flow of emotions

I have not been able to match comparison for comparison the original Hindi lyrics and the English translation, but this was inevitable. I would be grateful to any reader who can produce a more accurate translation. Please indicate your similes in the comments and I will acknowledge your contribution. I am not providing a literal translation because Javed Akhtar’s lyrics are simpler than simple.

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha from 1942 A Love Story

Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga
Ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga

Jaise khilta gulaab,

Jaise shayar ka khwaab,

Jaise ujali kiran,

Jaise ban mein hiran,

Jaise chandni raat,

Jaise narmi ki baat,

Jaise mandir mein ho ek jalta diya
Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga

Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga
Ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga

Jaise subah ka roop,

Jaise sardi ki dhoop,

Jaise veena ki taan,

Jaise rangon ki jaan,

Jaise balkhaayen bel,

Jaise lehron ka khel,

Jaise khushboo liye aaye thandi hawa
Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga

Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga
Ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga

Jaise naachta moar,

Jaise resham ki dor,

Jaise pariyon ka raag,

Jaise sandal ki aag,
Jaise solah shringar,

Jaise ras ki phuhaar,

Jaise aahista aahista badhta nasha
Ho, ek ladki ko dekha to aisa laga
