Translation of Darling Song by Gulzar from 7 Khoon Maaf

Darling – Translation of Usha Uthup Song from 7 Khoon Maaf

Meta Description:  Darling is a song from Vishal Bhardwaj film 7 Khoon Maaf. Lyrics by Gulzar, sung by Usha Uthup, the dance song features Priyanka Chopra. Enjoy the translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Darling

Usha Uthup has built a strong presence in Bollywood, particularly through songs depicting vibrant stage performances and energetic party tracks. Darling from 7 Khoon Maaf is a perfect example of this, fitting seamlessly into her style. The song plays during a community celebration at a colonial-era club. Interestingly, Usha Uthup also has a cameo role in the film as Maggie Aunty.

The lyrics of Darling mirror the character of Susanna, portrayed by Priyanka Chopra. She is a woman who indulges in fleeting affairs rather than seeking lasting relationships, a true femme fatale. The title Susanna’s Seven Husbands of Ruskin Bond’s novelette that inspired 7 Khoon Maaf encapsulates her complex and mercurial nature perfectly.

Gulzar has penned the words for the song, a collaboration that is often seen in Vishal Bharadwaj’s films. Darling presents a Western-style dance number with upbeat, foot-tapping music, yet Gulzar weaves in his signature Urdu poetry without losing the song’s colonial essence. In fact, if set to a different musical backdrop, the lyrics could easily be part of a mushaira.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Darling

Hey Daaaaaarrrrrling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Don’t stop me

Don’t stop me let my love continue

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Don’t stop me

Don’t stop me let my love continue

Unhappy is the spring

My mate’s heart is breaking

Birds can wait

While I go to my rendezvous

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Darling I am sorry

That I called you on a Sunday

Darling meeting you is

A blessing I cannot repay

Darling I am sorry

You met with troubles on the way

Darling meeting you is

A blessing I cannot repay

Cannot repay

Hey darling at least let

This humble servant your heart subdue

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Don’t stop me

Don’t stop me let my love continue

Darling leave your shyness

Show me your passions inflamed

Hey darling there is no use

For awe or to be ashamed

Darling leave your shyness

Show me your passions inflamed

Darling there is no use

For awe or to be ashamed

Be ashamed

Hey darling let us both

Scandalise the public anew

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Don’t stop me

Don’t stop me let my love continue

Unhappy is the spring

My mate’s heart is breaking

Birds can wait

While I go to my rendezvous

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Darling

Lovingly let me lock eyes with you

Daaaaaarrrrrling

Dil Ki Ye Baatein Translation of Hit Solo by Hansika Pareek

Dil Ki Ye Baatein: Poetic Translation of Hansika Pareek Solo

Meta Description: Dil Ki Ye Baatein is a single from Hansika Pareek. The lyrics are by Syed Amir Hussain and the music by Shibangs Chakraborty. Enjoy the poetic translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Dil Ki Ye Baatein

The Hindi music scene, with Bollywood as a prominent influence, is filled with songs that either celebrate love or lament unrequited affection. Dil Ki Ye Baatein offers a refreshing perspective, where the singer reciprocates love after deep introspection and understanding of her emotions. In this rendition, I have resorted to transcreation to preserve the rhyme, rhythm, and metre of the original lyrics, while also providing a literal translation of Dil Ki Ye Baatein for clarity.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Dil Ki Ye Baatein

These secrets of mine

Why should I keep them

Let me tell you what I feel

My heart is aflutter

Just as your heart is

Please trust me I appeal

I too have I too have Just like you have

I’ve fallen in love with you

Yes

The affair that was

One-sided till now

Is now complete I confess

See how my heart has

Started threading pearls

That are tears of happiness

What is happening is the beginning

Of an experience new

Yes

My life was passing

Uneventfully

Without a loving friend

Then when you met me

I found a buddy

On whom I could depend

We spent time together liked each other

Our relationship grew

Yes

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Dil Ki Ye Baatein

dil ki ye baatein

dil hi kyun jaane

tu bhi to sun le zara

haal mera bhi

ab hai tujhsa hi

kar aitbaar mera

hua hai hua hai teri tarah hi

mujhe bhi pyar hua

haan

qissa adhoora

ab tak raha jo

poora hai hone laga

dekho na dil bhi

aansu khushi ke

kaise pirone laga

beshak ye sach hai jo ho raha hai

ye pehli baar hua

haan

yun to guzarta

hi ja raha tha

bin humsafar bhi safar

aane se tere

aaya hai isme

ik khoobsurat asar

milne se tere is dil ka mere

khatm intezaar hua

haan

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Dil Ki Ye Baatein

The conversations within my heart

Why should they be for my heart alone

You should also listen to them

My state is also

Is now like yours

Trust me

Just like you I have

Also fallen in love

Yes

The affair that was incomplete

Till now

Is now starting to complete

See, my heart

Tears of happiness

How it has started threading

Beyond doubt it is true what is happening

Has happened for the first time

Yes

In this way it was

Passing

The journey without a companion

With your arrival

It was filled with

A beautiful influence

In meeting you, for this heart of mine

The waiting has ended

Yes

Piya Tose Naina Laage Re Lyrical Translation of Guide Song

Piya Tose Naina Laage Re – Dance Song from Guide Translated

Meta Description:  Piya Tose is an epic dance song performed by Waheeda Rehman for the Bollywood film Guide. Enjoy the lyrical translation set to the rhythm of the original track.

Setting the Background for Translating Piya Tose Naina Lage Re

Piya Tose Naina Laage Re, an epic dance number exceeding eight minutes, stands as the longest song in the Guide soundtrack and serves as a crucial narrative pillar. It beautifully chronicles the rise of Rosie's (Waheeda Rehman) dancing career, a lifelong ambition nurtured by the unwavering support of Raju (Dev Anand).

The song unfolds in a series of escalating performances, mirroring Rosie's growing fame. The initial verse showcases a modest performance for a small, local audience. With each subsequent verse, the stage grows grander, the audience more elite, culminating in a spectacular display befitting a renowned dancer. These transitions, seamlessly interwoven with musical interludes, visually depict Rosie and Raju's journey to commercial success.

The narrative then takes a U-turn with the protagonists starting to fall apart and that aspect is portrayed through songs like Din Dhal Jaae and Kya Se Kya Ho Gaya in Bollywood Translations.

The eight minutes is telescoped in time by setting verses in dawn and night and more effectively during Diwali and Holi. The song's varied rhythms and meters add another layer of complexity, enriching the listening experience. My translation of Piya Tose Naina Laage Re is true to every nuance. I encourage you to savour this translation alongside the original track, allowing you to experience the exact emotions but in a language that you would be more familiar with.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Piya Tose Naina Laage Re

I have now given my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue, my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you

Ho lamps lit all around

Ho on earth stars abound

But my mind is in a depressed state

Ho without your loved one

Ho Diwali’s no fun

To meet my lover I just can’t wait

Come my love my anklets call you

Jhanak jhan jhan, jhanak jhan jhan

I have given

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue, my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you

Alongside the calm river, in the stillness of dawn

Having filled my waterpot, and ambling slowly along

Alongside the calm river, in the stillness of dawn

Having filled my waterpot, and ambling slowly along

You made my heart resonate, resonate

O I don’t know why my bangles tinkled

Chhanak chhan chhan, chhanak chhan chhan

I have given

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue, my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue

Ho Holi’s here with spring

Ho colours it does bring

But Holi is drab without one’s mate

Ho friends did colours spray

Ho much to my dismay

Drenched saari my soul did violate

And my body shivered in the chill

Dhinak dhin dhin, dhinak dhin dhin

I have given

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue, my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you

In the full moon night my, body burns with desire

I plead to the moon that, at this time please retire

In the full moon night my, body burns with desire

I plead to the moon that, at this time please retire

Return when my lover’s at the gate

Shower your cool rays when with passion

Two souls will be one, two souls will be one

I have now given my heart to you, my heart to you

To you oho to you

Ho to you yes yes to you

Ho I have now given my heart to you

What the future holds I have no clue, my heart to you

I have now given my heart to you

Chhoo Lene Do Naazuk Hothon Ko Translation of Classic Song

Chhoo Lene Do – Golden Oldie Hit Song from Kaajal Translated

Meta Description: Chhoo Lene Do Naazuk Hothon Ko is a Bollywood ghazal from the classic Kaajal. Enjoy the poetic translation and interpretation of this Mohammed Rafi number.

Setting the Background of Chhoo Lene Do Naazuk Hothon Ko

I have not seen the movie Kaajal, but I have always been captivated by the poetry of this song. In my mind, I have interpreted the lyrics as an ode to lips, comparing them to wine in a metaphorical romantic sense. When I finally watched the actual video, I was taken aback—shocked and somewhat dismayed—to discover that the song was, in fact, celebrating wine itself.

In the song, the lover gently encourages his beloved to take a sip of wine, hoping it will help her shed her shyness and warm up to his embrace. However, her strong aversion to wine leads him to abandon the idea by the end of the song.

Despite this revelation, I cannot quite let go of my initial interpretation. Nor can I ignore the song’s actual narrative. To explore this duality, I have included the original Hindi lyrics and their translation, reflecting the song as it appears in the movie. Then, I have crafted my own transcreation, subtly altering the words to present it as an ode to lips instead.

I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments—do you prefer my interpretation, or the one presented in the film?

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Chhoo Lene Do from Kaajal

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

kuchh aur nahin hai jaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

kuchh aur nahin hai jaam hai ye

wo sab se haseen inaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

sharma ke na yun hi kho dena

rangeen jawaani ki ghadiyaan

sharma ke na yun hi kho dena

rangeen jawaani ki ghadiyaan

betaab dhadakte seenon ka

armaan bharaa paigaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

kuchh aur nahin hai jaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

achchhon ko bura saabit karana

duniya ki puraani aadat hai

achchhon ko bura saabit karana

duniya ki puraani aadat hai

is may ko mubaarak cheez samajh

maana ke bahot badanaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

kuchh aur nahin hai jaam hai ye

kudarat ne jo humko bakhsha hai

wo sab se haseen inaam hai ye

chhoo lene do naazuk hothon ko

The Poetic English Translation of Chhoo Lene Do Naazuk Hothon Ko

As Ode to Wine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

And taste the freshness of luscious wine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

And taste the freshness of luscious wine

What nature has bestowed upon us

Is a reward most precious and fine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

Shying away from wine will ruin

The pleasures and beauties of your youth

Shying away from wine will ruin

The pleasures and beauties of your youth

Of impatient pulsating heartbeats

It’s the desirous message divine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

And taste the freshness of luscious wine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

It is society’s age-old habit

To falsify what is good and true

It is society’s age-old habit

To falsify what is good and true

This wine is like manna from heaven

Even if on earth it is maligned

Put this glass to your delicate lips

And taste the freshness of luscious wine

What nature has bestowed upon us

Is a reward most precious and fine

Put this glass to your delicate lips

The pleasures and beauties of your youth

Of impatient pulsating heartbeats

They are desirous message divine

Please let me kiss your delicate lips

And taste the freshness of luscious wine

Please let me kiss your delicate lips

To falsify lovers with pure hearts

It is society’s age-old habit
