Nadi Poetic Translation of New Hit Solo by Hansika Pareek

Nadi: Poetic Translation of Hansika Pareek New Solo Release

Meta Description: Nadi is a new solo from Hansika Pareek released in 2025. The lyrics are by Alok Ranjan Srivastava and the music by Anurag Mishra. Enjoy the poetic translation.

Setting the Background for Translating Nadi

"Still waters run deep."

This saying perfectly captures the essence of the songs Hansika Pareek chooses to sing—whether for Bollywood films or her solo releases. Her lyrics often seem simple, idyllic, and lyrically rich on the surface, yet they resonate with profound emotional depth, echoing timeless human dilemmas.

In, Nadi, her latest solo release from April 2025, Hansika explores the human tendency to chase ambition at the expense of life’s quieter, more meaningful moments. Singing to a river—but truly addressing us all—she pleads with it to slow down, to linger, and to appreciate the beauty of the journey. Rather than rushing toward the ocean, she urges the river to celebrate its existence, to explore the places it touches, and to find joy in simply being.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Nadi

Beside your banks for a moment pause awhile

Gaze at stars in the firmament pause awhile

Let time surge on ahead you linger behind

Resist the rushing current pause awhile

Only to attain one’s goal

Is not the story whole

The secret of the journey

Is its soul

Take one step at a time, O River

Revel in your waves sublime, O River

The distant ocean can wait

Make the ghats your shrine, O River

Listen what life has to say

This is how you flow and sway

In you many streams will pour

New cities you will explore

With hills and vales you will flirt

Live life with no effort

Wherever your waters roll

There lies your destined goal

The secret of the journey

Is its soul

Take one step at a time, O River

Dwell in your waves sublime, O River

The distant ocean can wait

Make the ghats your shrine, O River

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Nadi

do ghadi tu bhi kinare tham zara
dekh le tu bhi sitare tham zara
chhod de daaman samay ka aaj tu
thaam le apne ye dhaare tham zara

manzilon ko hi paana
hai fasana
bhed tune safar ka
na jaana

dheeme dheeme paaon dhar nadiya
lehron mein bhar savar nadiyan
door bhale wo saagar hai
ghaat bhi ghar tera nadiya

sun zindagi kya kahe
nadiyaan tu aise bahe

koi nahar tujh mein khule
naye naye se shahar mile
waadiyaan chhoote hue
tu chale tu jee le

saans le le jahan bhi
paaye ye thikaana
bhed tune safar ka
na jaana

dheeme dheeme paaon dhar nadiya
lehron mein bhar savar nadiyan
door bhale wo saagar hai
ghaat bhi ghar tera nadiya ho

Koi Naa Karaoke Translation of Bollywood Romantic Duet Song

Koi Naa – Translation of Duet Song from Bhool Chuk Maaf

Meta Description: Koi Naa is a Bollywood duet from the romantic comedy Bhool Chuk Maaf starring Rajkummar Rao and Wamiqa Gabbi. Enjoy this translation set to the original music.

Setting the Background for Translating Koi Naa

Bhool Chuk Maaf is an upcoming romantic comedy set to release on May 9, 2025, under the prestigious Yash Raj banner.

One of its standout tracks, Koi Naa—which loosely translates to “not anyone” or “not anything”—is a simple yet heartfelt romantic duet. In this song, a soon-to-be-married couple express their pure and unfiltered love for each other. There is no philosophizing, no show of superiority—just the sheer joy of being in love.

The song is a lively, fast-paced number with minimal repetition of lines. I have aimed to preserve the grammatical structure of the original Hindi lyrics in translation, in order to retain the rhythm and essence of the original composition.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Koi Naa

Love, there is closer to my heart not any

My fate there is from you apart not any

To merge in you just like your own thoughts

Beyond this I know of no art not any

It calls you a beauty, the mirror

Only you it can see, the mirror

One day I will snatch it away from you

Makes me very jealous, the mirror

I will sing your praise, please listen my love

We are a perfect match, that’s clear my love

We are now ready for a world of our own

Our wedding date is very near my love

Ho Ho

You are just like my kohl lined eye

Ho Ho

You are just where my sweet dreams lie

I’ll hold you in my eyes

Hidden from public view

Secretly willingly

I will desire you

Love, there is closer to my heart not any

My fate there is from you apart not any

To lose myself in you like your thoughts

Beyond this I know of no art not any

No one’s poor in love’s paradise, not any

None can beat a lover’s surprise, not any

When our eyes interlocked, I realized that

Nothing’s greater than love’s sacrifice, not any

Please take me away to some cosy retreat

My youth and my beauty I lay at your feet

Let me experience you through my these two lips

How much you are spicy how much you are sweet

Like a hymn from a heavenly choir are you

Like a rose garden flushed with desire are you

Your presence seems like a calming influence

Yet to touch hotter than a fire are you

Love, there is closer to my heart not any

My fate there is from you apart not any

To lose myself in you like your thoughts

Beyond this I know of no art not any

We now share the same unease I confess

Being apart is too much of a stress

Darling marry me without any delay

My desires I can no longer supress

Ho Ho

You are just like my kohl lined eye

Ho Ho

You are just where my sweet dreams lie

I’ll hold you in my eyes

Hidden from public view

Secretly willingly

I will desire you

Love, there is closer to my heart not any

My fate there is from you apart not any

To lose myself in you like your thoughts

Beyond this I know of no art not any

Ho Ho..

I’m besotted with you, my lover

You’re unaware

Drenched in love through and through, my lover

You’re unaware

How to win you over all day I scheme

Your images through my mind I stream

I embrace you tightly in my daydream

I’ve given you my all, my lover

Love, there is closer to my heart not any

My fate there is from you apart not any

To lose myself in you like your thoughts

Beyond this I know of no art not any

aati mujhe dujji tarkeeb koi naa

ho ho..

main tere pe mar gayi sajnaa re
tu samjha naa
ishq se main bhar gayi sajnaa re
tu samjha naa

tere aage peechhe ghoomti phirun
piye binaa hi main jhoomti phirun
tere saaye ko bhi choomti phirun
meri jaan tujhpe nisaar sajnaa

yaara mere dil ke kareeb koi naa
tere siva apnaa naaseeb koi naa

Nasha Translation of Tamannaah Bhatia Item Song from Raid 2

Nasha – Karaoke Translation of Tamannaah Bhatia Item Number

Meta Description:  Nasha is a Bollywood item song from Ajay Devgn starrer Raid 2. It is performed by Tamannaah Bhatia. Enjoy the karaoke translation set to the original music.

Setting the Background for Translating Nasha

Raid 2 is an upcoming movie set for release on May 1, 2025. Among its highlights is the item number Nasha, whose relevance in the narrative will be known only when the movie hits the theatres. The high-electric dance has been performed by Tamannaah Bhatia, who continues to solidify her status as the reigning Item Number Queen following a string of sizzling dances in recent years. The translations of some of these are available at Bollywood Translations.

A fair amount of transcreation was essential to preserve the rhyme and rhythm of the vibrant lyrics. I have, therefore, provided a literal translation for those readers who seek a more precise meaning of the song.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Nasha

Your vibes have come alive
Have come alive, these your vibes

Oh my God, you sweep me away
Your deadly charm's at play, my beloved
Oh my God, steal my sleep today
Show me stars in broad day, my beloved

Oh, on the stars don’t waste your time
On the stars don’t waste your time
On the stars don’t waste your time
Catch moon, my love
Oh, on these petty cents and dime
On these petty cents and dime
On these petty cents and dime
Don’t swoon, my love

If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love
If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love
I will make you soar aloft
To the clouds I swear, my love
If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love

Your vibes have come alive
Have come alive, these your vibes
I have become disoriented
Disoriented by your overdrives

Come to me, my love — I know
What in your deepest desire lies
Yes, I’m yours from skin to soul
Devour me with your lust-filled eyes

I am for your pleasure
Oh darling, darling, darling, darling
Leave your wining alone
Leave your wining alone
Leave your wining

I’m your fortune, my love
Let go of your breath dear
I’ll love you to death dear
I’ll love you to death dear
Very soon, my love

If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love
If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love
Your vibes have come alive
Have come alive, these your vibes
I have become disoriented
Disoriented by your overdrives
If you want to blow your mind
For you I am there, my love

O leave the stars

Catch the moon handsome one

For these small trinkets

Do not fall handsome one

If you want to get intoxicated

Then use me as the intoxicant

I will fly you in the skies

Attaching wings to you

Your intoxication has so arisen

Has so arisen your intoxication

I am shaken

My entire system is shaken

I know my love please come

My mate what are your needs

Yes I am entirely yours

Devour me with your gaze

O I am at your service

Darling

Leave your wine

Hold my hand handsome one

Leave your breath my love

I will eat you my love

Do not be afraid handsome one

Shikayat Translation of Qawwali from Gangubai Kathiawadi

Shikayat – Poetic Translation of Gangubai Kathiawadi Qawwali

Meta Description: Shikayat is a Bollywood Qawwali from Sanjay Leela Bhansali film Gangubai Kathiawadi picturised on Huma Qureshi. Enjoy the translation set to the original music.

Setting the Background for Translating Shikayat

Gangubai (portrayed by Alia Bhatt) is the matriarch of a brothel in Mumbai’s infamous red-light district, Kamathipura. For a brief time, she engages in a playful flirtation with Afsaan, the naïve son of a local tailor. But as she begins to sense the depth of Afsaan’s feelings, Gangubai confronts a painful truth: continuing their relationship would not only jeopardize his future but also tarnish his reputation beyond repair. So, she ends the romance and compels Afsaan to marry a suitable young woman selected by her.

The qawwali, performed during the wedding festivities, becomes a poignant reflection of their inner turmoil. Its lyrics echo the unspoken emotions between them. Afsaan, grieved (Shikayat translates as Grievances) and heartbroken, struggles with what he perceives as Gangubai’s betrayal. His hurt is palpable. Gangubai yearns to preserve the bond they once shared—perhaps not as lovers, but as companions who once found fleeting happiness in each other’s presence.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Shikayat

In evenings dreaming about a past love that is dear

You wrench your heart to make the longing disappear

You have to kill your soul a thousand times each day

To present a feigned love and a cheerful veneer

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

So he harbours for me sweet feelings a plenty

I have heard that he breaks hearts just for the fun

I too am addicted to breakings a plenty

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

He does not now even look me in the eye

I no longer matter to him – don’t know why

Don’t know why; I do not matter; Don’t know why

Though I cross his path almost every day

He does not stop me - simply passes by

Yes, he simply passes by

Yes, yes, he simply passes by

I have heard that he bears hatred towards me

His hatred for me grants cold blessings a plenty

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

If you want, lay waste the city of my life

But with one last glance please give me a surprise

That you love me I bear the misimpressions

And my dear I permit you your transgressions

About his transgressions, resentful I am not

Of our shared past moments, forgetful I am not

I am not, forgetful I am not, I am not

Let him hurl charges as many as he wants

My loyalty is true, unfaithful I am not

Yes, yes, unfaithful I am not

Yes, yes, unfaithful I am not

I have heard he does not remember past friends

From his memory rise rich longings a plenty

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

I have heard I have heard deep grievance a plenty

Yes sir, yes sir, I have heard sweet feelings a plenty

Yes, yes, his disdain grants cold blessings a plenty

I too am drawn to heart breakings a plenty

Grievances, sweet feelings, yes, blessings a plenty

From his memory rise rich longings a plenty

I have heard, yes heard, yes yes I have, I have heard

Have heard, have heard, have heard, yes

I have heard that he bears deep grievance a plenty

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Shikayat from Gangubai Kathiawadi

kisi ki yaad mein shaamein guzaarne ke liye
kaleja chahiye khud ko maarne ke liye
ke ghaat maut ke har din utarna padta hai
yeh ishq dil mein meri jaan utaarne ke liye

suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai
suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai
toh phir unko humse mohabbat bahut hai
suna hai ke woh tod dete hai dil toh
suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai
humein tootne ki bhi aadat bahut hai

nazar bharke woh dekhte bhi nahi hai
humare liye sochte bhi nahi hai
nahi hai nahi sochte bhi nahi hai
guzarte hain hum roz pehlu se unke
magar woh humein rokte bhi nahi hai
haan rokte bhi nahi hai
haan haan rokte bhi nahi hai

suna hai ke nafrat woh karte hai humse
humein unki nafrat se raahat bahut hai
suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai
suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai

shehar chahe jeewan ka veeran kar do
magar dekh kar humko hairaan kar do
bharam aaj bhi hai wafaon ka humko
ijaazat hai jaana khataon ki tumko

khata par bhi unki khafa hum nahi hai
kisi haal mein bhi juda hum nahi hai
nahi hai nahi haan juda hum nahi hai
woh ilzaam jitne bhi chahe laga le
wafadaar hain bewafa hum nahi hai
haan haan bewafa hum nahi hai
haan haan bewafa hum nahi hai

suna hai ke woh bhool jaate hai milkar
humein unki yaadon ki daulat bahut hai
suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai
suna hai suna hai shikayat bahut hai
haan ji haan ji suna hai mohabbat bahut hai
haan haan unki nafrat se raahat bahut hai
humein tootne ki bhi aadat bahut hai
shikayat mohabbat haan raahat bahut hai
humein unki yaadon ki daulat bahut hai
suna hai suna haan haan humne suna hai
suna suna suna hai

suna hai ke unko shikayat bahut hai

Meanings of Urdu Words

Maut ke ghaat utarna = To die

Shikayat = Grievances

Nazar bharke dekhana = To glance

Pehlu = Side

Raahat = Relief

Khata = Error

Khafa = Angry

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Shikayat

To spend evenings remembering someone

You need guts to suppress your true desires

You have to “die” every day

You exhibit feigned love, my dear

(A prostitute’s lament: She has to supress her true love and pretend to romance with her customers)

I have heard that he has many grievances

This means that he is still in love with me

I have heard that he is a master at breaking hearts

I am habituated to getting my heart broken

He does not even glance at me

He does not even think about me

I pass by him every day

But he does not stop me

I have heard that he bears hatred towards me

His hatred gives me substantial relief

(hatred as an indication that he is getting over the past love)

You can lay waste the city of my life if you want

But give me a surprise bu looking at me

I carry the delusion that you still love me

(Because you appear unhappy with your marriage)

My dear, I permit you being annoyed with me

I am not angry at his grievances

Whatever the present circumstances, I still share the bond with him

Let him hurl as many accusations as he wants

I am loyal to him, I am not unfaithful

I have heard that he forgets people after meeting them

But I have a wealth of memories about him

Sarfaroshi Ki Tammana Poetic Translation of Patriotic Song

Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna – Translation of Bismil Azimabadi Poem

Meta Description:  Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna is a patriotic poem by Bismil Azimabadi popularised by Ram Prasad Bismil in the freedom struggle. Enjoy the translation of this ghazal.

Setting the Background for Translating Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna

Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna was penned in 1921 by Bismil Azimabadi in response to the horrific Jallianwala Bagh massacre. The ghazal became a clarion call to arms for those engaged in the freedom struggle against British colonial rule. It was most famously embraced by Ram Prasad Bismil, a revolutionary icon, who is said to have recited the poem on route to the gallows—an act that cemented the poem’s place in the annals of India's fight for independence.

The full ghazal consists of eleven couplets and has since been featured in various abridged or adapted forms in Bollywood patriotic films. Its first cinematic appearance was in Manoj Kumar’s Shaheed (1965), that rekindled the patriotic fervour in a generation born after India’s independence. I have based my translation of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna on this adaptation. I am also reproducing the transliteration of the full ghazal.

Translating Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna as a Ghazal

The qafiya (rhyme) and radif (refrain) are essential structural elements in the composition of a ghazal. However, one of the greatest challenges in translating Urdu ghazals into English lies in adapting the radif—primarily due to the stark grammatical differences between Urdu and English sentence structures.

In most of my translations of Bollywood ghazals, I have managed to incorporate both the qafiya and radif to preserve the integrity of the original poetic form. Unfortunately, in the case of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna, the use of a consistent radif has proven elusive. As a result, the relevant lines conclude with the qafiya alone, without the accompanying refrain. If you have a suggestion for a suitable radif that works naturally within the rhythm and spirit of this translation, please feel free to share it in the comments. I would be happy to consider revising the translation accordingly and will be sure to acknowledge your contribution.

Translating Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna has required a fair degree of transcreation to retain the poem’s patriotic fervour and emotional intensity. To offer readers a fuller understanding of the original, I have also included a literal translation.

The Poetic English Translation of the Lyrics of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna

Why are people so afraid

To speak what’s on their mind

Everywhere I look around

I see them cowering like mice

I see them cowering like mice

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

Let us test how much power

In the tyrant’s arms lies

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

When the hour of truth arrives

We’ll speak up what must be said

When the hour of truth arrives

We’ll speak up what must be said

Why to reveal our hand before

The final roll of the dice

The final roll of the dice

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

Let us test how much power

In the tyrant’s arms lies

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

We will take the battle to

The enemy’s streets and gates

We will take the battle to

The enemy’s streets and gates

In this war for liberty

Gladly we will pay the price

Gladly we will pay the price

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

Let us test how much power

In the tyrant’s arms lies

We are committed to perform

The ultimate sacrifice

The Original Hindi Lyrics of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna from Shaheed (1965)

Ek se karta nahi kyon

Doosra kuchh baat cheet

Dekhta hu mai jise

Wo chup teri mehfil mein hai

Wo chup teri mehfil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Dekhna hai zor kitn

Bazu-e-qaatil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Waqt aane par bataa

Denge tujhe o aasman

Waqt aane par bataa

Denge tujhe o aasman

Hum abhi se kya bataye

Kya humare dil mein hai

Kya humare dil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Dekhna hai zor kitna

Bazu-e-qaatil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Khaich kar layi hai sabko

Qatl hone ki ummeed

Khaich kar layi hai sabko

Qatl hone ki ummeed

Aashiqon ka aaj jamaghat

Kuchaa-e-qaatil mein hai

Kuchaa-e-qaatil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

Dekhna hai zor kitna

Bazu-e-qaatil mein hai

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna

Ab hamare dil mein hai

The Original Urdu Complete Lyrics of Sarfaroshi Ki Tamanna by Bismil Azimabadi

Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai
Dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qaatil mein hai

Karta nahin kyun doosra kuch baat-cheet
Dekhta hun main jise woh chup teri mehfil mein hai
Aye shaheed-e-mulk-o-millat main tere oopar nisaar
Ab teri himmat ka charcha ghair ki mehfil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Waqt aanay dey bata denge tujhe aye aasman
Hum abhi se kya batayen kya hamare dil mein hai
Khainch kar layee hai sab ko qatl hone ki ummeed
Aashiqon ka aaj jumghat koocha-e-qaatil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Hai liye hathiyaar dushman taak mein baitha udhar
Aur hum taiyyaar hain seena liye apna idhar

Hum to ghar se nikle hi the baandhkar sar pe kafan
Jaan hatheli par liye lo barh chale hain ye qadam
Zindagi to apni mehmaan maut ki mehfil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Yuun khadaa maqtal mein qaatil kah rahaa hai baar baar
Kya tamannaa-e-shahaadat bhi kisee ke dil mein hai
Dil mein tuufaanon ki toli aur nason mein inqilaab
Hosh dushman ke udaa denge humein roko na aaj
Duur reh paaye jo humse dam kahaan manzil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai

Wo jism bhi kya jism hai jismein na ho khoon-e-junoon
Kya lade toofaanon se jo kashti-e-saahil mein hai
Sarfaroshi ki tamanna ab hamaare dil mein hai.
Dekhna hai zor kitna baazu-e-qaatil mein hai.

The Literal English Translation of the Lyrics of Ruaan

Why ia a person not

Talking to anyone else

Whoever I see

Is silent in your party

The desire to sacrifice our lives

Is now within our hearts

We have to see how strong are

The arms of the oppressor

When the time comes we

Will reveal all to the skies

Now why should we say

What is in our hearts

We all have been dragged here

By the desire to die for our cause

The lovers of freedom are assembled

In the lanes of the oppressor
